Spaghetti Night

Me and my younger sis were both home alone tonite, so we decided to cook spaghetti for dinner. We went Tesco for a simple ingredient hunting session, well, off course the main objective achieved, but we ended up with the dessert for supper, tomorrow's breakfast, lunch, and dinner too. We tried to stop, but simply cant resists, it's all food, the temptation is too much.

Anyway, we continued our plan for spaghetti despite the little delay, and here are the recipes:

You will need:
  1. 500g San Remo Thick Spaghetti
  2. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  3. 2 teaspoons rosemary sprigs
  4. 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  5. 1 medium onion, cut in half and thinly sliced
  6. 400g beef mince
  7. 100g sliced salami, cut into strips
  8. 1 medium red capsicum (seeds removed), diced
  9. 400g can whole peeled tomatoes, with juice
  10. 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  11. ½ cup water
  12. salt and ground pepper, to taste
  13. 1 cup chopped parsley

Cook: San Remo Thick Spaghetti according to packet directions until 'al dente'. Drain and return to pan and set aside.Heat oil in a large saucepan and stir fry the rosemary, garlic, onion, beef, salami and capsicum over high heat for 5 minutes. Cook until the onions are soft and the beef starts to brown. Puree or crush the tomatoes then stir into the beef mixture, along with the tomato paste and the water. Mix well and cook until the sauce is boiling, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes until the beef is cooked and the capsicum tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir through the chopped parsley. Toss half the sauce through the pasta coating it well. Divide the pasta between bowls and top with the remaining sauce. Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese.

Looks complicated isnt it? Fortunate enough we saw there were fresh capsicum selling. The colours of the capsicum are interesting enough, green, red and yellow, luring us to eat them there and then! Though, we didnt buy it. Because we followed the second method, which is...

Ingredient:

  1. Prego instant pasta source
  2. Spaghetti

Cook: Heat everything up, within 15 mins, spaghetti was eaten, and digested.

The night doesnt just end with me and my sister messing up the kitchen, I sat in front of the TV for almost 3 hours continuously for 2 movies in HBO and StarMovies, Catwomen, and Day After tomorrow! Typical holidays.... 3 hours because it was coincidients that i found these shows are showing, therefore missed the beginning. Getting sleepy now, time to sleep!

45 Things to do before 45

I was reading the Her World mag and found this article interesting. "45 things to do before your're 45". So i made some sorting, and this is what i have done and have yet to be done.

Done!

  • Fall in love. ( duh...~!)
  • Have a mind-blowing fling with someone you've always fancied.( Well, it's always a fling before any serious relationship isnt it?)
  • Learn a new language. ( my language class in 2nd sem , coming soon!)
  • Forgive someone who's hurt you badly. (Sis, i forgive you all for stealing my clothes, my shoes.. becoz i stole yours too!)
  • Have an entire mother-daughter day. (This is easy!)
  • Make a conscious effort to spend more time with your loved ones. (My granny!!!)
  • Arrange all your photographs in albums - chronologically. (Not anymore now, it's all in folders after folders after folders....)
  • Go on a shopping spree and change entire wardrobe. (hmmph, not totally whole wardrobe! but still count, bluek!)
  • Get a new hairstyle. ( Well, i dyed, and from short --> long, so it counts!)
  • Lose five kilos. ( Yeap! Still heavy now, but heavier last time!)
  • Go online and make new friend.... (C'mon!)
  • Call an old friend you haven't spoken to in ages and catch-up. ( During birthdays, i guess that consider!)
  • Start a blog. (*wink*)
  • Throw a party with your closest friends and have them all spend the night.( This is often during secondary!)
  • Start helping out at community centre. ( Last time during Leo club...)

Yet to be done!!!

  • Sign up for wine appreaciation classes. You'll finally be able to tell the difference between the pinot and the merlot. (.......speechless...........)
  • Begin your search for spiritual and emotional fulfillment.
  • Have sex somewhere other than bedroom. Or better still, have Tantric sex. ( Huh? What's that? Kamasutra?)
  • Make a family tree and trace your ancestors.
  • Walk into a beauty bar and get yourself a Gothic makeover, jst for the heck of it. ( Gypsy makeover counts? Jst some blanket over and a jst-wake-up hairstyle will do rite? That's me every morning.)
  • Try and get back into your Levi's 501 from the last decade. (Last decade i was 11.)
  • Try on a pair of coloured contact lenses. (K! gonna get it tomorrow! Yellow?)
  • Indulge in a sexy pair of thongs.
  • Start a business you've always dreamed of.
  • Walk into your boss's room and demand that long-overdue promotion.
  • Get the Master degree you've been putting on hold. (+_+")
  • Redecorate your workstation following feng shui tips and see if it makes a difference.
  • Take a course on running your own business. (hmmph...)
  • Call up an ex-boyfriend and meet up for coffee. Hopefully he'll be fat and bald, and you'll still look like a million bucks. ( This is way evil! Yummy!)
  • Sign up for salsa lessons. What better way to get know people whilst moving your groove thing? ( Wooo... dirty dancing!)
  • Make plans to visit your dream destination. If there's one place in the world you've been dying to go, this is the right time. Better still, choose one where you can practice your newly-acquired language. ( So here i come, Italian and Sicily baby!)
  • You got your driving licence at 20 - now get your diving licence!
  • Go on an African safari. ( S'pore's night safari counts? or Melaka's animal safari?)
  • Pick up a musical instrument. ( Well, tried piano, too bad!)
  • Go skydiving. Heck, while you're at it, you might as well bungee jump and parasail as well. ( Yeah!)
  • Sign up for Pilates classes.
  • Start having healthy breakfast of cereal, fruit and yoghurt every morning.
  • Check into a health spa and indulge.

So here it is, there's much to be added into my to-do-list. Wait, where's my to-do-list? Oh! I guess i don't have one. Well, just too bad then.

Steve McCurry Slide Show

Some of my favourites

Steve McCurry

Saw his name some time ago in the newspaper. Recognize him by his famous picture featuring a 12 year-old refugee on the Afganistan-Pakistan border. That picture is National Geogrphic 100 Best pictures. It seem that he immotarlized the haunted eyes of that girl. After two decades, he was able to locate that girl again and that was the only two pictures that the girl had ever taken. Here are some of his marvelous work.

haunted!

Hush lil' boy, do not play with gun!

What can you do with a dog and a gun?

Picture with revolution influence but less diabolism.

You can visit his work here, but then, a friendly advice is that you do no visit it during your depressed moment, seeing all his pictures that potray the ppl around the world who are suffering from war or other catastrophe makes you feel even more vulnerable. Anyway, I wonder had I breach the copyright act by posting up his photograph here? =_="

Man Chauvinist Pig

I usually avoid some kind of ppl, becoz mixing them make me goes mad. Some saying, "If you cant beat them, join them.", in this case, this is not relevent. Seeing those man chauvinist pig (MCPs), the male species who is excessively proud of his masculinity, and express this pride to the detriment of the female species makes me puke. Loose my appetite. However, wanna make the defination of MCPs clear, that he may feel no ill will towards women, he may merely thoughtlessly ignore the needs or interest of women while pursuing his esteemed. From outsiders' view, these MCPs infact need thier women (if there's still any modern women willing to be obedient of such disasterous behaviour these days!) of thier life to continue for survival.

Second , is self-centered, the Mr. Know-It-All.... (well, since i am talking the XY homosapien, no doubt for the title Mr.) They indulgently believing that the superiority in them and hence, excessively self-absorbed, and self-involved. Thinking that everyone around him will agree to his moron opinions. As i mention moron, it means that those opinions that makes no sense. It is equivalent to a statement made by 4 year-old, "Ice-Cream is yummy!" How adorable! On the other hand, made by Mr.Know-It-All, "Ice-cream is tasty to eat, it contains fats, carbohydrate, balance vitamins, however, too much of ice-cream makes your teeth yellow, like drinking coffee, therefore you need to brush your teeth very often, do exercise........." Sound moronic informative isnt it? *wink*

Ya' know, how unfortunate, a series of my unfortunate event.

Bike Race

The hectic lifestyle that i am having now during my uni life is totally no fun at all. Stress could jst come up to you and keep on haunting you down till you cant catch your breath, suffocate! I locked myself up in the town for long enough, all the driving, carpark searching, traffics, honking(i dun used to do this, till i came up town, honking is essential!).Not to say i dun enjoy these lifestyle, but too much is always bad for health. Therefore, as a getaway, i turn my vehichel into a bike. Racing with my sister in the aunty bike, and the tyre was almost flat, was actually fun! Thou a bit of almost falling down there because too long nv been on a bike. Now, let the pictures do the talking!

Later that night,

somebody thinks that i stink alot! True enough, havoc comes late that nite where i had skin allergy, might be due to the medicine that my family that been inputting to me too much. Suffer an injection the nxt morning, *pain* will tell more in my next post!

Busy! busy!

I had been really busy since the midterm break. Nv had one day of relaxation before. Even during some of the outings, my mind couldnt be in peace to have a great day out. Now i understand that growing up isnt fun at all. Worst scenario didnt end of jst simply being busy. I was caught up with fever and sick for almost two weeks now after i had one of my dinner in Dengkil. ( yea! the food there is poisonous!) Or was it just me being unlucky that had me diarrhea and lost my appetite for two whole weeks. Imagine this, i cant even finish my McD ice cream, feel like chucking it away jst after first two bites, how pathetic!

Anyway, everyone else is having stress like me. When i try to think of it, i am somehow very lucky because during my "sick", i somehow managed to get myself pampered from my sister and my dar dar. My dinner and medication was all well taken care of by them. After all, both of them are busy with thier own coming FYP presentation. Anyway, i am going back hometown tml, miss my mum already. Wanna drink her chicken soup so much. After two weeks only i told her that i am sick, made her worry like hell, kept calling for the past hours, making sure that i would be home tml.

It's end of the sem and its totally no fun time! I want holidays!!!!
